Cirrus Ordered to pay Millions in Judgement

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

I feel for the family and granted I only know what the news and the NTSB website shows, but this is what stopped the production of single engine aircraft by Piper Aircraft and Cessna in the 1980′s.

As a pilot it is a shame to see corporations punished for pilot decisions. In their home state of Minnesota too.  What does it profit to punish a company that is providing revenue and jobs for the community?  The training may have been inadequate and it may not have been, but at the end of the day good pilot judgement and flying the airplane are the bottom line factors.

I once called to check weather conditions while in the air and the controller said look out the window.  In that case it was good advice, don’t fly near the storm and if it looks bad then land or go around.
